How telehealth prescribing works in Florida
Florida permits licensed providers to use telehealth to establish a patient relationship and prescribe non-controlled medications, and registered out-of-state telehealth providers can also treat Florida residents under Florida's registration statute.
Florida allows licensed providers to establish the provider-patient relationship and prescribe non-controlled medications through telehealth, including synchronous video and, in appropriate circumstances, asynchronous review. Providers treating Florida residents must either hold an active Florida medical license or be registered as an out-of-state telehealth provider under Florida Statutes Chapter 456, which allows qualified out-of-state clinicians to treat Florida patients while still being subject to Florida Board of Medicine oversight. Every Pallas clinician who treats Florida patients meets one of these two requirements. GLP-1s are not controlled substances, so Florida's separate controlled-substance telemedicine rules do not apply, but our providers still take a complete history, screen for contraindications like personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma, and schedule follow-up visits to monitor response and titrate dose.
