About

What are compounded semaglutide tablets?

Compounded semaglutide tablets are a daily oral form of semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist. Semaglutide activates the GLP-1 receptor, the gut-hormone signal that lowers appetite and slows how fast the stomach empties. Each prescription is prepared for the individual patient by a US-licensed compounding pharmacy under section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.

How it’s prescribed

Compounded semaglutide tablets are prepared for an individual patient only when a licensed clinician documents a clinical difference that patient needs from the commercially available, FDA-approved products, as section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act requires. The clinician decides which preparation, if any, is appropriate.

Right here in the United States. Your prescription is compounded per-patient by a US-licensed compounding pharmacy and shipped directly to your door.

One tablet a day. Your prescription comes with the timing instructions for your preparation, and your care team can answer questions anytime.

Compounded semaglutide tablets are $299 every 4 weeks, charged only once a clinician prescribes, then renewing every 4 weeks until you cancel. Other terms are quarterly ($777 every 12 weeks, $259/mo average), 6-month ($1,434 every 24 weeks, $239/mo average), or annual ($2,717 every 48 weeks, $226/mo average). Every plan includes your clinician, check-ins and care-team messaging; there is no separate membership fee, and shipping is free.

That is the clinician's call. A compounded preparation is prescribed when the clinician documents a clinical reason the patient needs a preparation that differs from the FDA-approved products, and which form, if any, fits is decided from your health history. The intake asks about your history and any current treatment so the clinician can decide.

No. Compounded semaglutide tablets are not the same as the Wegovy® pill and are not a generic version of it. They are prepared by a US-licensed compounding pharmacy on a per-patient basis when a licensed clinician determines a commercially available, FDA-approved product is not clinically appropriate for the specific patient.

Yes — no contracts and no lock-in. You can pause or cancel your plan anytime, right from your patient portal.

Disclosures

Important safety information. GLP-1 medications can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and abdominal discomfort, particularly during dose increases. Rare but serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney injury from dehydration, and — based on animal studies — a possible risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. Patients with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2) should not use these medications. Always disclose your full medical history to your clinician.

Compounded medications are prepared on a per-patient basis by US-licensed compounding pharmacies, regulated under federal law (FDCA §503A) and by state boards of pharmacy. While these pharmacies are highly regulated, the compounded medications themselves are not FDA-approved, are not generic versions of brand-name drugs, and have not been evaluated by the FDA for safety, efficacy, or quality.
